Awesome Gyro !! The Special of the Day for $5 Gyro Only. Went to this place based on reviews, a little hesitant because of a drive through or outside sitting only. Wrong !! Tired of the usual corporate eateries. Owner puts out fresh, very tasty Gyros, salads, etc !!

This place is absolutely amazing! Super nice staff who make you feel extremely welcome and talk to you like they've known you forever. If you are ever in the area you MUST come to this place. I have had a lot of Greek food, but I must admit this small shack beats some of the best. Shoutout to the homie Moe back on the grill! He's a beast cook and super chill. If you love Greek food, or are looking to try something different, I highly recommend this place. PS: be sure to try the Greek fries! They are amazing!

We could live on a mono-diet of YiaYia Nikki's Greek Salad! I absolutely love the Feta cheese they use in this salad. Yummy to the limit, so fresh, all quality. Especially that the owners are dedicated to those standards and are making it work in Eastern Oregon. Kudos!

I tried and tried to find a better gyro in Portland and I couldn't. The food here is so fresh and when they run out they close Yia-yia Nikki is awesome as are her cookies and baklava. Her specials are yummy too. I'm getting hungry just writing this and now I'm going to get a gyro at Yia-yia Nikki's!

Best Greek restaurant in town. Only Greek restaurant in town. Located next to Safeway. I have high hopes for La Grande's first Greek takeout hut, so I'm not going review it too harshly until I eat there at least one more time. This is coming from a small town where Quizno's and Dominos Pizza might fight it out for "Best Italian Food". To put this in perspective, it has been the buzz of conversation at every gathering I've been to in the past month. I order the gyro and salad and it's just fine. My partner has the pastichio, which is the size of a cinderblock and comes with a classic Greek salad. It tastes decent, if a bit mild. The side salad is very good though, with fresh Romaine lettuce, two huge hunks of feta cheese, a couple of kalamata olives, tomato wedges, and a nice lemon and olive oil dressing. Unfortunately the yogurt kaziki (sp?) sauce is too mild. Were's the spice, man?! I don't need a lot, just a little. It also comes with fries, which are generous, but a bit flacid. For a town of 12,000, I'll give it 4 stars. Not exactly as authentic as say, gyros from the outdoor festival at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, but just fine in a fix. Note from my dear cousin Haralambos in Ca: "Tzatziki, Tzadziki, or Tsatsiki is spelled many a way...and I don't know it to have much spice... usually it has a lot of garlic and cucumber--" 5 stars for the Spanikopita.

Very authentic (as the owner is FROM Greece). Best Greek food ever! Very fair pricing, great customer service, yummy specials, discounts for students and "frequent buyers". Everything is homemade and made fresh daily, nothing is frozen or pre-made. The desserts are homemade and family recipes from Greece. Family run and locally owned, so that's great to support. Plus, it's the only Greek restaurant around:-)

I love this little drive thru. It's nice to not have some major chain attempting to do Greek food and fail. The open hours are a little confusing as it tends to rely on how fresh the food is, but, who can complain about them making sure you get fresh food? Granted a trip across the street to Safeway could keep them going all day but I'm not sure if they use their own special things that Safeway can't provide. The Gyros sandwich is just incredible and fills me up everytime. The smell of it will flood your house for a little while and almost make you hungry for more. I did try the sample platter and admittedly was not that impressed, and I have not tried everything on the menu, but the Gyros alone is worth going back for.

Huge portions, great value! The gyro sandwich was tasty, but we wished we would have shared, we left too stuffed. Friendly owner, nice, clean, outdoor eating area. Would definitely eat here again!

We came to Yiayia Nikki's for lunch as we were passing through on the way home from a road trip. We'd seen the Yelp reviews but were never able to stop in on previous trips because it was never open. We're so happy they were open this time! They are under new owners. The very nice woman working that day explained that Yiayia Nikki's was her husband's retirement restaurant. My husband and I shared a Greek salad and sampler platter. The hummus and pita stand out in my mind as I remember the food we had that day. The salad was fresh and the dressing was delicious. The gyro meat was moist, tender and well seasoned. The shrimp was fried to perfection. We even got a few extras with the sampler platter. We'll definitely be back on future road trips!

Do yourself a favor if you live nearby or are passing through. Authentic and locally owned, this place has great Gyros, baklava, salads, and other food. The service is great.

The owners and employees here are so sweet and welcoming!! If you aren't familiar with Greek food they will help you figure out what you would love! The hummus is home made also!! You really can't go wrong eating here!

A very quaint place. The food is amazing. Gyro Platter is my favorite. I can pick and choose what I want to eat; together or by it self. The customer service is 2 thumbs up! The only downside is the tomatoes. I always have to ask for extra tomatoes. The ratio of tomatoes to other items in the gyro platter or gyro sandwich is tiny. Greek food is the best!

Stopped on our way to Boise. I'll say this...fresh homemade deliciousness! Husband had the Mediterranean gyro. I had the spans-something made with spinach, feta and phyllo topped it off with a shared piece of bakalava. Everything was outstanding. Will definitely go back!

Nailbanger Here Again: On my way to somewhere else stopped for lunch in La Grande. This place was rated pretty high on the list, so we gave it a try. Lunch was Gyros and the meat was very good. They are pretty basic. Pita, Meat, Tomato,Onion and Tzatziki Sauce.I have had better Gyros, especially since they are so basic, no Lettuce ? Their Hummus and Baklava were not so good. They are are not cheap,$7 for a Gyro. I probably go elsewhere next time. one the plus side of things they are Family Owned and very friendly People.

Complete diamond in the rough! Spent a long day traveling from Seattle, WA to Victor, ID and happened to stumble across this place through Yelp. Wasn't sure what to expect from a shack in the middle of Oregon but WHAT A SURPRISE. Such delicious food--especially the piece of baklava I saved for later on during the trip. I love you, Yia Yia Nikki's...

Incredible, authentic Greek food from a to-go window. Was recommended by a local when I was in town on business and was pleasantly surprised. We had a combo sampler plate and it was all good. We sat outside in the sun for lunch. I don't think there was any tables inside.

Yia Yia Nikki's is a great little place in La Grande run by equally great people. Every time I go I grab a Gyro which is incredible. The meat is very tender and the meal is very filling. The fries that come with the meal are just basic potato fries with not much flavor. I would love to see them get better fries and the meal would be one of the best in town. I've tried a few other things which I loved but I can not remember the names of the dishes at all. Everything I have tried has been excellent. If you have not been yet I strongly urge you to go. The food is very good and the people are very nice and friendly.

I never thought I would find such a good Greek restaurant in the middle of La Grande Oregon. Without Yelp, I would have passed by this place without even a glance, as it doesn't look like much of anything from the outside. This is a take out only join, no bathrooms, and you can drive up or walk in to take your order. The inside is tiny, yet they still have a little couch you can sit at while you wait for your food to be made fresh. The staff were super friendly, and even though it was several minutes before their closing time of 7pm, they let us come in and cooked up something for us. Because they were minutes before closing they were already sold out of salad, spanakopita, and other items. The last salad went to the lady in front of us, and she was raving to us about how great the salads were, and it definitely looked good. The owners still had enough left to cook up two gyro plates, so that is what we ordered. They even let us sample the meat beforehand. I love that this business is wise enough to know exactly how much food they need on any given day, thus not left with the problem of what to do with all the leftover food. For a take out Greek establishment, this place is a gem. Sure I have had better Greek food at a restaurant, but for what they are, and where they are, it was good. The gyro plate was freshly cooked, tasty, great spices, and was served with the thick awesome pita bread (not the cheap thin stuff), the fries were good, and loved that it wasn't super oily and my stomach was gut bomb free at the end. The tzatziki cucumber sauce was the thick good creamy kind, but it could have had a stronger cucumber flavor to be perfect. The Baklava was house made, and was not overly sweet, and full of yummy nuts. The owners are a couple - American Greek and American Italian. They were super friendly and staid late to give us tips for our road trip. They didn't make us feel hurried at all or that they were trying to rush us out, even though we kept them from closing directly at 7pm. If you are lucky to live by this place, be sure to get the punch card, order 9 items and the 10th is free. Looks like they have a great outdoor terrace to eat at during the warmer summer months.

I've been coming to this place since 2009 and its amazing. Even though the original greek owners have retired, the new owners jeep the authenticity. I have her to find any gyros in the US that rivals the ones sold here. I recommend everything!

We got there and it was hopping! The owner, Tara was taking orders left right and center and was apologizing for the wait. She did a great job of setting time expectations and even tossed in a few free waters because we had to wait. We had a gyro sandwich and two large gyro salads. All of them were tasty. Wednesdays are lamb specials were they have fresh cooked lamb available. She also mentioned that they were thinking about having a lamb on a spit sometime in October! Would definitely go again. Great little spot to stop on the way back to Portland from Boise

You can not do better than this truly authentic greek place. You must go here!! Have a Gyro or greek meatballs, although I'm sure anything you order will be great. And get dessert. -Corvallis Foodie and her boyfriend, also Foodie.

Arguably the best Greek food I've had in a long time. Combine that with the best service I've ever had from a drive through, and you've got a winner. My boyfriend and I were done bed hopping (long story for another review) for one day and were on a mission for some tasty grub. Having already hit up a handful of La Grande's finer, we opted for the little shack with the good reviews near the Safeway. As we approached, I immediately said "Hey, they have a God door!" in reference to the single, small door on the side with a large sign that said "GOD". The reason for this door remains a mystery at the moment because we got caught up in foody conversation as soon as we hit the window. Have no fear though, next time we shall ask the meaning of this door. Our first impression of the drive through was a little confusing, as there was no menu. When the window popped open and a smiling face greeted us, we inquired about our dining selections for the evening. The first thing we were handed was a take home paper pamphlet denoting the daily specials and everyday staples. We mentioned that we had not been here before and would appreciate her assistance in picking the best Thursday meal. Next was a series of questions about our tastes and diet (Are either of you vegetarian? For example) resulting in her brining us two decent sized samples of their lamb gyro meat. The meat was . . . well . . .damn good. We silently enjoyed our bits as she explained the mix percentages of beef to lamb. After saying "please miss, can we have some more?" she went into further options of how exactly she could give us the succulent meat. Plates, sandwiches, samplers, all were explained before we both settled on the "plate" version. Oh the pleasure we took in the homemade tzatziki sauce, pita bread, and meat folded into mouthwatering squares . . . .the fries that came with the plate were fries, good fries, but paled in comparison to the rest. Next was my simple questions about the special wedding cake cookies. She asked if we had ever tried one before, to which my boyfriend answered a resounding "no". She said "I'll be right back" with a wink. One free cookie later, split into a bite for each of us, and we ordered four more to go. Very, very good. Buttery, a bit nutty, and covered in powdered sugar, it was similar to shortbread. Citizens of Eastern Oregon, I implore you to visit Nikki's. It is well worth it.

This place is so amazing and such high quality. Delicious!!! The owners are super nice and Nikki is from Greece so the food is authentic. It is by far my favorite place to eat in La Grande! As far as tips go, "reserve" your food :) it is so good she may sell out and because its fresh when it's gone it's gone for the day. Also there is no indoor seating but you can drive through and take it home or to the park! So good!!!

Yia Yia Nikki's is still humming along and doing well. They have a great way to do business. Everything is fresh and when they run out of food for the day they close. Greek food is authentic (she's Greek, he's not) and tasty but I have had much better gyros elsewhere. Food is decent, service fast.

I was excited to see Yia Yia Nikki's open up in La Grande, since I enjoy Greek cuisine, and have not experienced much of it - in this part of the country. During my first visit I ordered the "Greek Plate" (Gyro with fries) and was delighted with the outcome! (The lamb was a little different as it is cut from a processed roll, rather than a leg - much less gross than it sounds! - but the flavor was great and the ingredients very fresh!) The business is owned by a married couple who do all of the cooking. The building is so small, there is no official dining room. But there is outdoor seating nearby the building. All orders are "to-go"! So far, I have really enjoyed the whole experience. Will go back soon!
